Case studies
We represented Encavis, a leading provider of sustainable energy investments for institutional investors, in developing one of the largest solar parks in Germany. The solar park, part of the special bank fund Encavis Infrastructure Fund IV (EIF IV), is planned to generate 260 megawatts of renewable energy and is expected to be completed by 2025. This significant project will contribute substantially to the country’s renewable energy capacity. Our proactive ESG risk management approach was integral to the project’s success, including the negotiation and management of key project contracts such as engineering, procurement, construction contracts, and operations and maintenance contracts. The team also navigated the complexities of project financing, securing approximately €145 million through a loan agreement with COMMERZBANK Aktiengesellschaft. Notably, we facilitated a 12-year power purchase agreement (PPA), through which Encavis will supply LyondellBasell with around 210 gigawatt hours of solar power annually, demonstrating the project's alignment with the client's sustainable energy goals.
We advised UKIB on the project financing of Highview Power's first-of-a-kind commercial-scale liquid air energy storage (LAES) plant in the UK. Additionally, we advised UKIB on its equity investment in Highview Power's LAES project. The investment will enable the construction of one of the world’s largest LAES facilities in the UK, using Highview Power's proprietary LAES technology. Once complete, it will have a storage capacity of 300 MWh and an output power of 50 MW per hour for six hours. Construction will begin on the site immediately, with the facility operational in early 2026.
We acted as US and international counsel on the US$515 million initial public offering (IPO) of Waaree Energies, the largest solar module manufacturer in India. Managed by Axis Capital, IIFL Securities, Jefferies, Nomura, SBI Capital Markets, Intensive Fiscal and ITI Capital, it was one of the largest IPOs in the renewables space, receiving the most applications and recording a 70% listing premium.
